I'm Dr. Tony Johnson and Flirt and I are going to walk you through how to apply Fiproguard topical flea and tick treatment today. As a practicing veterinarian, I know that the active ingredient in Fiproguard is very effective and well tolerated by dogs and cats, but we still have to pay close attention to how we're applying it. That's why we'll run through the main points step-by-step. First, be sure you're purchasing the right product. You might want to watch the video segment on safety tips to really understand what goes into buying the right product. Be sure to weigh your cat or dog before going to the store. Buy the product for the right weight group. Then, make sure you purchase a product for the right species. Never use a dog product on a cat or a cat product on a dog. They contain different amounts of active ingredients and are not meant to be used across species. Be aware that Fiproguard can be used on puppies and kittens over eight weeks old, just like Frontline Top Spot. Now we're down to applying the product. Walk through with us. Are you ready, Flirt? First, take the tube from the package like this. Make sure your pet is perpendicular to you so it is easy to see exactly what you're doing. Now, holding the tube with the notched end pointing up and away from your face-- like this-- you want to cut the narrow end at the notches. Invert the tube over the cat or dog, like this. Use the tip to part their hair and then, squeeze the tube so the fluid comes out onto their skin. With dogs under 89 pounds and cats, you need to apply the product in one spot between the shoulder blades. For big dogs, between 89 and 132 pounds, you'll need to squeeze the tube and apply in a line, from the back of the neck to a point midway between the neck and the tail. Now if you need to bathe your dog or they love to play in water, just wait 24 hours for the product to dry completely. After that, Fiproguard is waterproof so water won't be a problem. And that, as they say, is a wrap. Good luck with your Fiproguard.
