One of the most important things when feeding wild birds is that you choose a feeder that they think is beautiful, and not necessarily what you think is beautiful. So, really, what makes a feeder beautiful for a bird when it comes into your backyard?
Well, some of the most important things are that the feeder has a large area for birds to land and perch on and come in. And what this does is it allows small and large birds to be here, not just large. Another important aspect is that it has a large capacity so you don't have to come out and fill it. And the less you have to fill it, the more often it's actually going to be full, and the more often they're going to come to it with food.
Another aspect that is very important on the feeder is that it has lots of drainage. And drainage is important because it allows to keep the seed dry and fresh longer. And, finally, the other thing to look for when purchasing a feeder is that it has a nice large opening when you fill it; it's easy to fill.
