The Pet Loo is made up of four main parts. First we have the synthetic grass, which has been specifically designed for Pet Loo and is extremely low maintenance. It doesn't require watering, so it can be kept both indoors and outdoors because it is synthetic grass. There are perforations here in the base of the mat which allow for maximum expulsion of liquid, and the mat here is completely non-absorbent. The grass sits on this tray, which is slightly angled towards a central point. The tray has been corrugated to allow for channels for the urine to travel down. And this way the grass doesn't sit flush on the tray, so there is maximum drainage.
The third part is the jug, which holds up to 1.75 liters of liquid and has been designed to be user-friendly. And finally we have the base, which has been reinforced to hold the weight of any dog.
In order to keep your Pet Loo clean, I recommend you pour warm water over it daily. The water travels through the same channels as the urine, and effectively flushes it all out.
We do recommend that you do give the grass a good, high-powered clean at least once a week. Give it a hose-down, but for those of us who live in an apartment and don't have a hose, the shower is just as effective.
If it's kept clean, the Pet Loo will not smell, as it has been designed to expel the maximum amount of urine possible, and the base does not absorb any liquid.
